We are a family of four looking to move to the Brandon area but are open to other surrounding areas. I have read some posts on Brandon and it doesn't seem like the safest area for us to bring our little ones to. We would like to hear any suggestions on other areas around there that might be safer. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm sure Brandon is fine for your needs. Moderator cut: snip

Brandon and the other nearby sprawly suburban areas are full of families.

Where is your employment located? What is acceptable commute time?
Rent/Buy price?

Ferrett is right the whole area is full of families.

It depends where in the Brandon area. The closer you are to the Bloomingdale-Valrico-Lithia neighborhoods, the better

Thanks everyone for the tips. I think we are planning on the Brandon area. I guess you will always hear good and bad in every town.

Brandon is very nice. I live in Riverview and go there quite frequently. I wouldn't hesitate to move to either community.

Brandon is as safe as any other suburban area of Florida.

Others include New Tampa/Wesley Chapel, Trinity, Westchase, Fishhawk Ranch. There are more but those are all pretty similar.
