My husband and I considering relocating from PA to Palm Harbor. Having read good things about the area, just wondering what some residents think of the area?

We moved from Pa in october and have rented in Palm Harbor since Jan 1. So far I haven't found one negative thing to say about it. We are very happy here.
let me know if you have any specific questions.

Default Palm Harbor

I lived in Palm Harbor for a few years, it is definitely one of the nicer areas to live in in Pinellas county, there is really nothing bad to say about it, I also think Dunedin (just south of PH) is lovely and quaint too.

The only drawback to Palm Harbor is the commute time to Tampa and/or St. Petersburg, if you work in one of the two areas. My wife and I both grew up in the area (her in PH, me in Dunedin) and we would still be living there if we both didn't work so far away. Palm Harbor (and north pinellas in general) is great.

Default Relocation in the Pinellas county area

Hi all,

My family and I are also definately moving down to the Tampa area, but are unsure as to which part to live. I grew up just north of the area in Citrus County, so I am familiar with the area, but have been gone for about 11 years. My main question with pinellas county and more specifically the towns that are within reasonable commuting distance from tampa is, are there any family oriented type areas? Or are the majority of the residents retirees?

ChrisJ, you mentioned the commute to tampa was the only down point ot living in the Palm Harbor area, what is the average commute during rush hour?

Thanks in advance!
Rob

I have made the commute to and from downtown St. Pete numerous times during rush hr-average is 45 min.
Tampa downtown--only a few times during rush hr, but it was about 45-55 min-depending on which route you take. In our experience, it took a little less time getting out of Tampa in PM and taking the memorial parkway rather than the causeway. YMMV.

I still own a house next to Palm Harbor in Dunedin. Very nice area. Family oriented and somewhat quiet. There is a cute downtown near the gulf and a few other nice little downtown areas in nearby Dunedin and Tarpon Springs.

Lot's of malls and restaurants on US 19 to eat and shop in.

There's really nothing special about Palm Harbor or Dunedin. In fact, that entire area has become a giant strip mall with U.S. 19 development run amuck with congested traffic.

I used to date a man who lived in Palm Harbor and I loved it there. Its kind of upscale, very nice homes...and it's close to some nice areas to hang out.
Dunedin is nearby, and I loved going there.
