Hi everyone!
My family (2 kids, ages 5 and 6) is moving from Southern California (OC) to Tampa Bay in the next 6 months and are just starting our research for areas to live. We have visited Tampa often on business and travel, but since we weren't considering moving there we have not looked outside of the typical tourist areas. We are wanting to find a community that our kids can enjoy...I am hoping to get some recommendations from all of you on possible places to call "home" in Florida.

Below is what we are looking for:

waterfront community
homes that average 700K-1M
good schools with a mostly white demographic
safe, affluent family oriented community

Also, if you make a recommendation, can you please tell me what you love and what you don't love about the community? Thanks in advance!

define 'waterfront'. That could mean anything from a water retention pond to private dock access leading to the gulf. Are you concerned at all about commute times to certain areas?

I'm not so sure that Tampa is the place for you and your family if these are the kind of things you are looking for.

You can't just come out and say "white demographic". You have to be a little more subdued with that...I suggest using codes words like, "low crime", or " excellent schools with high test scores".

Good thing for the OP is that most $700k to $1million dollar neighborhoods are white by default, so it's almost redundant to ask for a white demographic in a neighborhood consisting of homes worth up to a million. . .

with that being said, let's see these suggestions roll in.

Culbreath Isles or Davis Islands may fit your bill. Also try Jupiter or Ponte Vedra Beach along the east coast...it's more "white" but FL as a whole is like California from CFL, south when it comes to diversity.
