Hello,
Can anyone tell me if Tampa has a pretty strong financial services industry? My husband is thinking of attending USF. We will have his guaranteed income (GI Bill and disability) and a good cushion in savings but I will need to find a job as quickly as possible. I am in financial services as a broker's assistant. How is that industry in your area? I will attempt to transfer with my current company but I'm not holding my breath. Our industry certainly took a beating this past year and I'm not sure the company will be willing to transfer employees yet.

I know of Raymond James and USAA are big employers in the area. Any other firms that would be worth taking a look at?

TIA

Big financial industry presence in Tampa Bay area. Some hiring now but industry has been in retrenchment for at least 12 months. In addition to Ray Jay & USAA you might consider JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Franklin Templeton, Aegon, T Rowe Price...depends on type of job you want and try and find something without a long commute. Try Indeed.com and input series 6 or 7. good luck.

Also in Tampa MetLife has a large Sales Office(75 producers), and one of thier largest Regional Offices(1300 associates) is in the New Tampa area.

Thanks for the replies. I'm working on my Series 7 now. It will hopefully make me more marketable. Good to hear there is some hope there for me!
