I'm not at all a math person, but if the test is 30% of your grade and you get a "0" on it, you will definitely fail the course.

Why would you get a zero on a final?

My college algebra class wasn't very fun either. But the professor did give partial credit as long as you showed your work. I think I skated by with a B- or C+

The irony is you would use algebra to determine what your lowest passing exam grade would be. What is passing?

Assuming it is a 70

(82*0.70)+(x*0.30)=70 Solve for x

57.4 + 0.3X = 70

0.3 X = 12.6

X = 42

.42 * 23 = 9.66

You need to have at least 10 questions out of 23 questions right to get that 70, assuming 70 is what you need to pass.

No need to ask the teacher if you have the rules right.

Assuming all questions are exactly equal (something that is not the norm where I teach)
