Any suggestions for teaching my almost 3 year old a foreign language (preferaly spanish)? I am interested in finding a program that does tutoring for her age group or maybe hiring someone to come to the house. I am hoping to find some sort of program that is in a group setting & costs about ....$50- $100 for say 6 weeks of the classes. Sort of how they do the ballet & gymnastic classes.
Any suggestions as to how I would go about finding classes would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe hire a Spanish speaking nanny? I had a native nanny when I was a toddler in the Philippines, my parents spoke Chinese Hokien, I watched English TV, went to a Mandarin school, took up Spanish lessons in an English school, landed in Canada... so ended up speaking all these languages.
Go find Sesame Street in Spanish and keep that on and see if the kid picks up a few words. Sesame Street is in most languages so it's bound to be out there somewhere.
You could probably do that yourself. It's not like you're going over sentence structure or conjugations or anything of that nature. I would start off with some things objects around the house that you could translate and have her repeat the word.

Thanks in advance.
find a play group or day care with alot of spanish-speaking children. She'll be speaking the language in no time.
I am from Guadalajara, Mexico, but I've lived in some english speaking countries, like Canada, USA, U.K.
When I lived in the U.K. I took a course to teach spanish. I was tutoring for almost a year.
I have 2 children and they are bilingual. My daughter is 10 years old and she started to speak english when she was 5, that was in the U.K. I don't let her speak english at home, she speaks both languages very well. My son is 3 years old and is incredible how he knows when to speak english, for example to the people at the YMCA etc... and he only speaks spanish to me...

I would say to use your money to buy Spanish materials.
DOn't know where you're from but teacher stores like LAkeshorelearning.com have locations all over the US and they have kids Spanish cds, games, flashcards, and videos.
Buy dvds of things like Dora and put it on Spanish instead of English. Sing lots of songs, play games, watch Spanish tv shows for kids.
I think the best suggestion is get the child a babysitter who is a native speaker of the language that you would the child to learn.
