I apologize to the moderator for starting a thread that was closed two days ago, but I have what I believe to be some pertinent information on this subject and wanted to share. Unfortunately, I found this site today and just registered, so I was late to the party!

Anyways, I'm a native Floridian, born and raised in Miami, with a passion for the mountains and have always loved to travel with my family to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area of Tennessee. Finally, in October of last year, my family realized the dream of owning a vacation home in the area. Well, this is when I found out about the supposed Disney connection in Pigeon Forge. I called a contractor out to the cabin for an estimate on building a deck and he told us the story about how "Disney was building a theme park and a whole bunch of other stuff right near here". Being a new "local" to the area, I started do dig into this contractor's comment. I quickly found out what I still believe today - people are mistakenly referring to a project called the "Pigeon Falls Village" as a "Disney" project because of the relationship that the two main men involved had with Disney. Michael McCall of Strategic Leisure worked throughout the years together with multiple Disney "Imagineering" divisions and Bruce Laval, who spent 30 years with Disney and is now Executive VP of Strategic Leisure, are the brains behind the theme park design of this project. To see the connection between Strategic Leisure and Disney, follow this link:

www.strategicleisure.com/roots/The_Disney_Connection.html

To see an independent write-up about the project, follow this link:

www.hotel-online.com/News/PR2005_2nd/May05_PigeonFalls.html

After reading the discussions in the closed thread and reading this independent article along with many other Googled write-ups about the "Pigeon Falls Village" and seeing that this whole project is backed by an investment group based in Orlando, Florida and is headed by two guys which have had extensive dealings with Disney, you can see where the misunderstandings might stem from. Well, at least that's how I see it.

They are condos at Pigeon Forge, with stores and restaurants. Nothing more and nothing less.

Pigeon Falls Village (http://www.condoatpigeonfalls.com/pigeon_falls_village.htm - broken link)

That's my point. Disney's not involved in any project in Pigeon Forge. Some people who were involved with Disney are behind this project, hence the local misunderstanding of "Disney's involvement".

I figured as much, seems Disney buying old run down hotels and spending money too have a "Resort" with all the Disney Trapping.... spelled that wrong!
As in their resort in Vero Beach. And maybe another one some where's between Daytona and Saint Augustine? So something like that in the Smokies would be typical Disney for the tourist $$$$$$$$$........

It's not Disney. It's a guy who worked for Disney.

I agree, But I would not rule out Disney some where in the future putting in a resort in the Smokies. Just wait for a new cartoon with hill billies and such and poof you got a resort soon after wards

Thanks for the info Snips, that does sound plausible for a misunderstanding.
I appreciate you.

Not a problem. I love to help, whenever I can. I just didn't want to tick you off on my first day here by duplicating a closed thread!

By the way, I'm glad I found the site. There's loads of good info everywhere!
