A little more than a year ago, I did the bestplacestolive.com survey and Paris, TN was my #1 pick for my best place. I drove through McKenzie on my 2 week adventure last summer to see TN. You can't blink going through or you will miss it. It is primarily flat. In the summer it was very, very hot. I was there in early June so I must have missed the humidity. The people in the area are very laid back and friendly. I hope this gives you a little glimpse of the area. Also check out google and click on images. There may be photos of the area.

My hubbie and I visited McKenzie McKenzie, Tennessee ~ Your Town last summer, to see the college he had attended (Bethel College). The town was very quaint, although it looked like main street and the shops that bordered it were in the process of going out of business. The town looked like it may not have the money needed to maintain the repairs necessary to restore itself. This little town could be so cute, (Mayberry like), if the city or maybe private citizens spent the cash. The surrounding neighborhoods looked mixed..some still kept up, others definitely on their way down. But what got me the most was that downtown was so cute, but deserted.. I could see how there could be a General Store, a Soda Shoppe, a Butcher, a Coffee Shoppe, a Barber Shoppe, Beauty Salon, etc... I'm thinking most residents drive away from downtown to the more modern shopping areas...like I said, it could be a beautiful little place if only there was some money to help restore the beautiful old buildings...
