I was in the Navy ,40 years ago, with a great guy from Copperhill TN I recall him showing me pictures, and yes, it looked quite barren and red
I recall guys asking him where in the heck Copperhill TN was and he would reply --"not too far from Ducktown"
I got orders to Whidbey Island Washinton NAS and he got orders to Adak Alaska and we lost touch.
Glad to hear his hometown is now beautifull .
"JD" was a great guy (liked by everyone) and Copperhill should be proud of him just as he was proud of his hometown.

Default Copper Basin slowly recovering

Check out the video on You Tube, it describes the past pollution and effort of trying to clean it up. The entire Copper Basin is slowly being returned to its natural self but the old copper plant in the town of Copperhill is one place that needs attention. Driving past this old plant
on Hwy 68 that is directly on the Ocoee river is a huge eye soar and it's too bad it hasn't been cleaned up.
