White won the election in every county with a major city in it except for Fort Worth and Amarillo. Counties containing Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, El Paso all voted for White. So it is pretty much the rural areas that voted for Perry.

Travis County did vote overwhelmingly for White.

Perry 87,402
White 142,150

There is a map here that shows how each county voted, click on the county and it gives you the breakdown.

Yeah, this really isn't necessary. Pretty immature actually. If this is how Perry voters think and feel, then we are in for another long two years Texas. Watch that deficit grow.
I don't know why so many conservatives (espec the southern variety) have that childish nature, but they do.

Interesting, why would you say that Amarillo is a major city but Lubbock or Corpus Christi?

Just for the record, when I said that White was losing in Harris county, he was. He did eventually manage to pull slightly ahead and win the county tho.

Rural areas did mostly vote for Perry, but their populations are tiny. Perry won because of suburban areas voting for him.

And this thread settles the issue of which is the best big city in Texas. Fort Worth, hands down.
