The Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area added 56,600 jobs between January 2010 and January 2011, putting the area at No. 2 among 372 metro regions in the U.S.
A total of 266 metropolitan areas gained employment during that period, according to new figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Ninety-three metros suffered declines, and 13 were unchanged.
Dallas-Fort Worth led the nation in job gains, picking up 63,600 jobs.

Hate to rain on your parade but the Legislative Budget Board estimates that the new budget the legislature is crafting will result in over 250,000 job losses for 2012 and 2013.
