Just wondering if anyone has info on the processing time for CHLs since Sandy Hook. I mailed in my materials back in mid January and the online status checker still hasn't changed to acknowledge receipt of my materials (I received a receipt confirmation through the USPS, however). I expect that the wait will be significantly longer now due to the current gun panic, but I don't know whether that delay is a few weeks or months at this point.

I got my CHL a couple of years ago and I waited about 45 days. I don't know how long they take now.

You are correct, WB. It is taking quite a bit longer than it used to. What you might consider doing is to call directly and ask about it. Of course, you might be put on hold for bit, but at least you can talk to a "live person", to get a better idea of what it going on. Let us know how it turns out!

I did call and spoke with a nice lady. She said there is a hold-up because of much higher than normal application loads. She also said that it takes a while for the status to change online and in their system. Overall, she wasn't able to tell me much other than to confirm that they are swamped.

I followed TX75007's advice and it appears it can take 20 days for the status to change online. I'm close to that, so hopefully it will change soon. My main concern was that something was wrong because it hadn't updated, but that appears to be the norm.

*grinning a bit* I wonder how many of the applications which are slowing down the processing, etc, are due to those submitted by formerly anti-gunners, who are finally starting to see the light? Perhaps because they have themselves have been robbed/assaulted? Hmmmm

Yep. You will see actual day to day posts on who is getting their cards. And you can read actual posts by the men and women working with the state legislature as to how bills are doing.
