You would have much better luck in East Texas than in this part of the state. The Best Fresh Peaches | Terrell Texas | Since 1979

There are not many, if any, fruit orchards in central Texas. Also, the peach crops in the Hill Country were all but ruined this year by a late frost and hail storms.

this will give you an idea of what is in season

http://www.gotexan.org/LinkClick.asp...d=515&mid=1508

you can search individual products here.....not the most convenient method, but it will help you if there are specific things you are looking for and you can also search pick your own and you pick and get some results

Product Search

farmers markets you might pass

Certified Farmers Markets

Texas Hill Country peach growers some with pick your own some with road side markets....crops are very small this year

Texas Hill Country Peaches and Fruit

you pick by area and if you scroll down you will see a Texas map where you can click by county....again not the most convenient, but there is a lot of info there

Where in Texas to find pick your own farms and orchards for fruit, vegetables, pumpkins and canning & freezing instructions!

and south of San Antonio strawberries

Poteet Strawberry Festival ~ April 12-14, 2013

I would about guarantee if you see some growers on the list that interest you and you contact them they will share others that might have more available product or that have products they do not grow.....generally those that run these types of operations realize that they are in a "group" and not individuals and that when others in their area do well they do well and when they share info others will share info about them....and generally they can sell all they can grow so it is not like they will have fruit and produce going to waste if you buy a little elsewhere so call a few and then ask if they know of any others that might have other products to offer as well and I bet you will get some more leads

there seemed to be better info on the WWW in the past, but GoTexan seems to be more farmers markets lately and more semi-commercial and larger sales oriented now.....which is a good thing to a degree, but they need to have a better pick your own listing IMO

also if there is a particular few products you are interested in more than likely there is a grower group for them and they will gladly supply info

Texas Fruit Growers Member List

Texas Fruit Growers Members

another farmers market list....again if you contact some of the ones that have a quality webpage and the like they will most likely share info with you or perhaps invite you to come pick from them if that is what you really want to do

Texas Certified Farmers Markets - Member Markets

hope this helps and hope you enjoy your trip....I would say more than likely you will find more opportunity coming down 281 to San Antonio, but you never know check those list and maps
