Check out this sow and 2 cubs in west Texas. They're supposedly creeping into the hill country as well!

They're out there! Unfortunately it's the wrong sub species (not the native sub species) that people brought in

I knew East Texas had bears but was not aware West Texas and the Hill Country did.

There were a good number of bears back when they first settled the hill country.

The entire state had black bears... hopefully they get back to their natural range (or close to it) one day.

I've seen them in McMullen County and Webb County. A couple of years back the gardener for Senator Judith Zaffirini got chased into the house by a black bear. Even the Texas Rangers showed up for that one. At Arroyo City 2 days ago they found a dead Ocelot that was apparently hit by a vehicle. Another rare cat gone.

Question, what kind of bear is best? False! The black bear.

Be careful what you wish for...unless you're in the glass or door industry.
