Let's say you had a fabulous time in Europe and you're flying back down, descending into the airport. As you look out the window do you feel a moment of "well back to my normal boring life?".

Or lets say you drove to Colorado for the holidays and you return to Texas while slowly watching
the landscape return to it's flat, boring geography as you approach the gulf plains?

Uh....no. Who would feel shameful in returning home? Wherever that may be?
Dude, I would hate to go on vacation with your negative a$$. I'll bet you're a real buzz-kill at parties.
At least you aren't some douchebag from SoCal...oh, nevermind. Please stop giving us native Californians a bad rep bro.

Lol I always love returning home. (that is an honest feeling when I see the live oak covered hills dotted with houses)

Well, you were obviously anxious to use that gif, but I'm not seeing how it applies.

Nope, not ever. I love Scotland with a passion; it's in my blood. As is my love of Texas, and there are parts of Texas that are much like the things I love about Scotland.

I'm pretty fond of Colorado for vacation, too. Doesn't mean I don't love Texas.

I love living in the particular part of Texas I do (and loved living in the other parts when I did), because here, if I get bored with one type of topography, I can drive 50 miles in one of several different directions and find something completely different.

How much exploration of Texas have you done, exactly? Sounds like you haven't a clue.

I experience a moment of shame every time I click on a thread started by this op. I need to take heed of the "fool me once" adage.

Love coming back to Houston after a trip except when I went to Florida I wanted to stay for another couple of days, but nothing like arriving home to your bed.

Same here. Most other places eventually wear out their welcome, but every time I'm in Miami I truly regret having to leave.
