Hello folks,

I need your help to find the best fit for me in TX.
In two, three years I want to relocate to the Greater Dallas area, and just because I am so serious about my goal, I'm starting my research now.
I'll keep it short. What I'm looking for is nice, clean and safe (most important - affordable) suburbs with not_that_long commute to Dallas. I don't care about schools since the kid will be in college already, but I still would enjoy family oriented neighborhoods.
My budget is between $250K and $300K for a house with three beds and two baths and a decent yard for my shepherds (And yes, I keep in mind that prices can go up or down between now and then)

Any suggestions and recommendation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, all!

it is possible your budget may be too low....i hear real estate in Dallas is going through the roof...you may have to settle for less "safe" suburb....i would not worry too much about crime if you practice common sense and dont go out to bars late nite or hang around shady types like junkies and drug dealers.best of luck and welcome to Texas

Dallas is big, so it depends on what part of Dallas you are commuting to. Also, what is a decent yard? According to Zillow, there are numerous houses matching what you want that "recently sold" as well as a few active listings in Irving, Farmers Branch (not sure if family oriented), Carrollton, Garland, and Richardson. Results still show up for half lots, but there is virtually nothing if you want at least an acre. I've been to several of those areas with "recently sold" homes coming up and they are not at all shady-never noticed a drug dealer or junkie.

I agree your search radius is too broad especially since traffic sucks. People who aren't from the DFW area have trouble grasping how spread out the Metroplex is. Just DFW airport is larger than the island of Manhattan. I know of at least one park that's bigger than Central Park and I'm sure there's more. Unless you live close to a rail stop and your job is within walking distance of another rail stop you'll probably end up driving to and from work.
