Why do you worry about other people's opinions?

Why would anyone be on city data if they weren't interested in other people's opinions?

Since we are talking about towns, and not cities, I will say Fredericksburg is pretty high on my list, not just in Texas, but in general. I think it's just one of the cooler towns out there.

I also really dig the town of Glen Rose. The layout and topography is cool, the buildings are historical, the river is nice. and the access to Dinosaur Valley is great.

I also like Paris TX, but I would consider that more of a small city than a town.
I've been wanting to see Glen Rose, Texas. Hamilton is another one that is very nice, surprisingly. Seemed a lot nicer than the other towns near it. But if Glen Rose is nice too maybe there are a few others around.

I don't see how this is an illegitimate question. This is a board about the geography of Texas. Why wouldn't people discuss their favorite and least favorite towns?
Don't worry about it mate, I for one am happy for this thread, I want to discover some new cool small towns.

Yeah, I mean there isn't a TON going on, it's a very small 2.5k person town, but in addition to a nice town square area, it has a couple good coffee shops, a retro soda fountain and half a dozen or so non chain restaurants, the ones which I've tried were pretty good! For a city that size it's pretty happening, probibly alot of it has to do with being next to Dinosaur Valley State Park.

I don't like huge metro areas or really small towns, but I generally do like the small cities and mid size towns of Texas - Tyler, Waco, Marble Falls, etc. Texas has some fabulous huge metro areas and I enjoy visiting for a day but I'd hate to have to deal with the traffic and congestion on a daily basis. But that's just me.

Some smaller towns that I like that haven’t been mentioned yet

Granbury
Brenham
Boerne
Alpine

For really small towns I like the Fort Davis and the whole Davis mountains area.

Hunt or Ingram on the Guadelupe River = best for us + good fishing

Houston, DFW, San Antonio = worst

Towns in Texas? Gee, there are so many of them. My favorite ones are the old-timey towns that have the downtown square with the courthouse in the middle.

As far as cities go, Dallas and Houston both suck - flat, boring, sprawling concrete jungles. San Antonio is interesting from a historical perspective. Corpus Christi is a decent small city if you like the water. The beach isn't like Florida there, but it's not disgusting like Galveston either. Amarillo is small, boring, and aside from Palo Duro Canyon, surrounded by a whole lot of nothing. Austin is the best city in Texas, but it has become California-esque and overpriced. The old hippies are being replaced by techie/yuppie types.
