It's time to start official thread on drought in Texas.
https://www.drought.gov/states/texas
Maybe it's not a record drought yet, however 2022 can already be rated as one of the driest years in Texas. At least it's definitely the driest year during my life in this state (last 10 years). Last Friday when I was on my way home I drove through the rain just 2 miles from my house. Unfortunately it didn't rain above my house. It was so close, but no, my yard stayed super dry.
Any predictions for July?

Can't speak for Houston but I think the Central TX region is pretty much screwed until Fall. Hopefully no other weather phenomena blocks our rain then.

Most hope is that Houston brings rain to other parts of Texas. But it's extremely dry here, not sure if Houston can help this time..

Just north of Houston has had pretty normal rainfall (Conroe / Huntsville), at least up until the last week or two.

But southwest of the city, it's really bad, and starting to get worse west / northwest of the city too.

There were some odd anomalies out in West Texas recently - areas with terrible drought, right next to areas at or above normal precip.

I wonder if Far West Texas will benefit from the early monsoons that are happening now in AZ/NM. They usually don't start until July.

Best hope for central Texas is a large but weak tropical system.

Rain often comes from Houston side, as Houston is located on the coast.
Oh I remember you live in Houston, so you should know that.

Maybe you can help me, I seem to be in a white area of Chambers County by the ocean (we have direct waterfront). What does that mean? https://www.drought.gov/states/texas/county/Chambers

At the 7-10 day point of the next 10 days most of Texas looks to have a shot at rain but until then, hold on and stay cool!

The way you said it made me think that we were going to carry buckets of water to other areas of the state
