Haven't been to east central Texas (Nacogdoches, Lufkin), Sabine national forest. Basically the chunk of the state between Houston and Tyler. Haven't been to Galveston. Nor the coast south of Corpus Christi, or anywhere along the Rio Grande besides El Paso. Haven't been to the part of Texas east of El Paso and west of San Angelo, so no Odessa or Midland or Big Bend. Nor anywhere along the Red River west of Gainesville up to the Panhandle.

Never lived in TX but I have only been to:

Houston
San Antonio / Seguin
Amarillo and the Panhandle
Loving County

All on a road trip to New Mexico with a couple good friends, years ago.

The places I'm most curious about seeing:

Marfa / Alpine / Ft. Davis
Big Bend
DFW
Galveston
More empty, desolate corners of West Texas

Yup, I am mostly in San Antonio, Austin and South Texas when I am in Texas in summer time. I haven't been to Houston in over 25 years... For me, Houston just doesn't have the draw that other big American cities like NYC, LA and Chicago have. It's like a flat version of LA without Hollywood or any of the tourist attractions.

I have been there one time and besides the NASA exhibitions, there is pretty much nothing of redeeming value there. I can say the same about Dallas.

Yallust don't know what youre doing in Houston or Dallas for there to be "nothing of redeeming quality". That right shows your opinions are invalid.

Think about it from the perspective of someone who doesn’t live in TX. Is there anything in Dallas besides the JFK exhibits or anything in Houston besides NASA that they couldn’t see or do in NYC, Chicago, or LA?
