Hello everyone,
my husband will get soon out of the military and we were thinking about moving to temple texas not far from his family and not far from military base either. And there have a great police department that i would like to join. Well i'll never lived there and it's just giving me the chills when i see all this registered sex offernders!! i know i had this discussion with my husband that he thinks it's better then we know the registered ones then the not registered. But i just think i can't get really warm with this thought.
Does anybody live in temple long enough to give me positiv feedback about this city!! regarding crime and of course the sex offenders!! please i have a little daughter and it would just kill me if something would happen!!!
Every information if bad or good is highly appreciated!!
thank you for your time
god bless
manuel

eh, they are all over...heck..i just moved back home to Texas after 3 years at Ft Stewart and when i looked at the GBI site, there was a freakin sex offender living ON POST in MY NEIGHBORHOOD on MY ROAD! i guess she must have been a dependent.
btw, Dallas PD is paying a $10,000 sign on bonus, in case your hubby is interested......but remember, no such thing as a free ride and you know Dallas is rough.
in terms of Temple, dont know much about it. why doesnt he just go work DOD at Ft Hood? i think most army posts have replaced MP's with DOD police and AKAL security officers etc.......and being prior service he gets priority for DOD positions

Hi, I have lived in Temple since 1997. My wife and I moved here for her medical school and like it so much we never left. We have three children (8,5, and 4 years old) that I homeschool, but honestly I've never felt nervous about sex offenders. I just think of them as being like snakes. I know they are around and dangerous, but I don't frequent places where snakes hide and I don't let my kids run around unsupervised in unknown places. They stay with me and I'm comfortable. We go to the mall, HEB, Wal Mart, etc and don't have any worries.

Temple is a good place to live. We've have many friends here and the churches are great. I've never had an issue with the police dept. They have always been professional and courteous when I've met one.

Best of luck with your move.

Rick

Temple is a great place to live. If your lucky you can find a place out of the city limits.

Good luck
