Passport Requirements (military, license, single)

I would like to bring my kids over from the Detroit area.

I was looking for information on passport requirements.

So the kids only need their birth certificate for a visit. Is that cut and dirt?

Also, can I use my DOD (military) ID or will I be required to get a passport?

We will probably visit between 3-7 days at a time.

Passport or enhanced driver license (NY, WA, WI drivers only). Regular driver license or birth certificate no longer accepted since 2009.
