My '08 Camry has been down a 1/2 quart of oil the last two times I've had oil changes. I have never had a Toyota with oil issues.

If it was leaking oil I'd see it as my driveway is white and I work from home so I'm here most.

Someone told me maybe it's due to cheap oil, I often go to Walmart for oil changes (but not always) as we don't have too many options where I live.

Any ideas on why this could be happening?

1/2 a quart between oil changes isn't abnormal, I wouldn't worry about it unless you see other performance signs indicating a problem such as blue smoke from the exhaust, oil pressure problems and so on.

As engines get older, they sometimes use a little more oil than before. How many miles are on the car?

You didn't say how many miles you take between oil changes.
VEry common for them to have some oil loss. Mine loses about a half to 3/4 of a qrt between oil changes, but I do 10 000 miles.
So it depends. Normally, it's a blow by burn out due to piston rings not set properly at the factory and with lame driving after car was purchased.

Are you saying you do not check your oil between oil changes?

Thats not so much to really worry about.

Just monitor it and make sure it doesn't get worse.

Explain "down a 1/2 quart of oil"

Does that mean when you last had it changed, it was at the FULL mark, now it is 1/2 between the 2 marks?
Does that mean it is 1/2 a quart below the minimum level?

Oil level is fine anywhere between the FULL and MINIMUM marks on the dipstick.

I'd be more worried about getting your oil changed at Wall Mart!! Never... Ever... Get your oil changed there or similar places!

Changing oil isn't rocket science.
Plus, any shop that does many oil changes at all will use bulk oil. There is no difference between bulk and individual bottles, except the cost.
