I have 11,000 miles on my Yaris which I bought in 1/2012. my last complimentary oil change was in November 2013 when the car had about 9,000 or 10,000 miles on it. I think the complimentary oil change schedule was every 5000 miles within 24 months

since March I really didn't use the car(cancer treatment) except for about 5 miles per week but I have since started to drive it again regularly for work (@ 35 miles per week) starting early this month

I scheduled the state inspection and oil change for 11/18. do you really think i need an oil change at this point? when will the needs maintenance light come on?

also, last November Toyota indicated(on my windshield) that the car had 13,000 miles when it was inspected and the last oil change but currently it only has 11,000 on it. they made an error

should I report this to Toyota or is this not important?

13,000 may be the next oil change, not most recent

Normally the sticker displays the "next oil change."

I think your car had 8K miles when you went last time. Sticker is for 13K which is your next scheduled oil change.

Ehh.. Just to be on the safe side, yeah, have the oil changed, why not? It's a cheap insurance.

Change the oil. Mileage is not the only factor when considering an oil change.

+1

Used oil, when sitting in an engine contains acids that can eat away at bearings and journals in the engine.

ANytime you plan on letting a car sit for an extended period of time, you should change the oil before parking it.

Changing the oil is much more than a number on a sticker on the windshield.

I would never go more than 1 year on oil changes regardless on how little miles get put on the car.
