I have a 2015 Scion xB, which I bought brand new in 2015, which I usually drive less than 700 miles per month. Currently I have almost 16,800 miles on it.
About a year ago, I noticed that while in “
drive at a stop" at stop lights or stop signs, that sporadically I would hear a somewhat loud irritating rattle . . . that sounded like it was coming from the engine compartment. It sounded like a large thick piece of plastic was vibrating somewhere in the engine compartment. At the time, I only seem to notice this rattle when the AC was on. Since it was sporadic and did not happen that often, I learned to live with it and was okay with it being a quirk in an inexpensive car.
Now over the past 2 months, the rattle appears about every 3rd or 4th time I stop (while in drive ), with or without the AC on? The rattle stops when I am in “park” or “neutral” (as the RPM goes up a little in those gears) . . . so I am guessing with the engine running at a slightly lower RPM while stopped and in “drive” is the catalyst for this irritating rattle.
Before I take it into the dealer, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their xB . . . if so, what was the fix?
Thank you in advance.
