Yes. I spent some time in Japan several years ago and had countless long conversations with students who would approach me to ask if they could practice their English with me.

Heck yeah, thats half the fun. Kind of a challenge to navigate the waters when your the outsider. Makes you more considerate of those who are new to our country as well. I usually get a phrasebook and learn a couple of courtesies, the words for bathroom, food, hotel, taxi, and doctor.

Me too. Many foreigners love the opportunity to practice English with a native. You may get a free beer or two as a result .

Some of my best times traveling were sittin outside drinkin beers and smoking cigs with hotel workers practicing english, happened at multiple places and one was even a 5star!
