3-4 week trips are too brief IMO. not enough time to do or see a whole lot. not a big fan of them, unfortunately all my vacations in the last two years have been that length of time since i've been broke/homeless most of the time. i'd much rather do one 10-15 week trip than three 3-4 week trips tho.
For a vacation, more than 14 days. But notice I used the word "vacation". That doesn't encompass all kinds of travel. Backpacking trips, for example, are not usually "vacations", nor are similar, more upmarket voyages. A "vacation" is a voyage done with relaxation as its primary intent.
I'd say 3-4 weeks is pretty long for a vacation. And a typical vacation should be 2 weeks if you really want to relax. IMHO
What say you?
RETIREMENT!! Ran into an old High School cronie and I asked him if he had retired yet...he says, "Hell yeah. Shoulda done it in High School" now that's a vacation
I think we are confusing backpacking trips with vacations.
I've done both. I've backpacked for six months on minimum. I'd say that's a good length of time for backpacking.
But for a vacation I would say 3-4 weeks is great. But you can order drinks at the beach in Bora Bora for so long.

I would say about the same. We have taken a couple that were close to 3 weeks and they were long as far as we were concerned, in fact maybe a little too long.
I get ansty after about 2-3 weeks...I need to get home!
But, I'd say 2 weeks is ample time to unwind and relax! Longer than that is called "retirement"!
i wouldn't call flying halfway around the world only for a two week trip unwinding or relaxing.
