Pretty annoying. I removed it for tonight and will be talking to the concierge tomorrow to get this fixed.

Went to lay down on my king size bed in my hotel room and I find that there's a sheet of plywood over ~70% of it. WTF is this? I've never seen this in a hotel before, and I can't find a single instance of it on Google (maybe I've been using the wrong search terms).

It appears from your photo that it was inside the mattress cover, so my guess is that it is intended to be used under the mattress for stability, and somehow the mattress was put on the bedframe upside down.

Either as apex stated, or the person who occupied the room before you wanted a super hard bed and this was what they used for a bed board. The only problem with Apex's suggestion was that it's a pillow top mattress, and they only go on the bed one way. You turn them, but don't flip them.

Agreed. My mother used to have a board underneath her mattress to provide additional support for he bad back. It DOES provide a lot of additional support.

Did the mattress sag once you took the plywood off ? If so I would be furious, send a letter/email to head office and request compensation.
