Can anyone please help us with the quickest possible route to Miami from MI minus mountains?
My husband just had a detached retina surgery in which they put gas in the eye. We have a cruise planned for November and he can not fly or go above 1600+.
I've been told through Indy to Nashville to Birmingham...etc. and help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Take I-75 to Cincinnati, then I-71 to Louisville, then I-65 to Nashville, then I-24 to Chattanooga, then I-75 to Florida.

Detached retina? I'd be cancelling the cruise and calling my trip insurance company.

The highest elevation along I-75 is 2200 ft in Northeastern Tennessee..

Why risk it? Cancel your trip and go when he's healed. Isn't your dh worth more than a cruise??

I would assume that the OP and her husband have already debated whether to cancel or not. Clearly for whatever reason, the cruise is important enough for them that they are willing to drive 20+ hours each way. They may not have trip insurance. It may be a family reunion type trip. It may just be something they're really looking forward to. They might see it as a great opportunity for a road trip, and decided to make it an extended vacation. Doesn't matter the reason. That's their decision.

My route avoids Northeastern Tennessee, because I knew the elevation just south of the TN/KY border was 2,200 ft.

Fair enough. But I'm not so sure that the OP and her husband discussed it. She hasn't been back to CD since she posted this query. I'm hopeful that when she told her husband her plan, he told her to get real and forget about it.

And most surgeons recommend nothing over 1,000 foot elevation, not 1600.

Well, the decision is between her and her husband. Not her, her husband, and a bunch of nosey CD posters. She simply asked for a route. Not commentary.
