I plan on moving this year atleast by September if not before than and i was curious to know if my 97' ford escort could make the trip down to Texas. If not what vehicle would be best to travel that kind of distance

(Yes, i know i can't pack anything really in an escort i'm just tryna get down there)

The rest of the stuff i'm bringing that can't fit i'll just have someone with a Uhaul or a bigger vehicle come with me

I might travel from Texas to another state too just because i got some other people to see and i wanted to travel while i can.

Only your mechanic can tell you if the car is capable to make the trip. How we supposed to know the car maintenance history, and mileage? Or what's wrong with the car or not.

How in the world could we possible answer that question? It depends on the mechanical state of your car, make and model are not relevant.
And dude you are not crossing the Sahara in the world cup driving rally, you are driving on interstate highways along with hundred's of thousands of drivers that drive this route each and every day. Any vehicle that is sounds can make that drive.

All things being equal it has as good a chance as any other 1997 (21yo) car.
Maybe even a smidge better... the mid-late 90's Escorts are good cars.

In that case, tow the Escort with the Uhaul.

Easy. Just pack your stuff into a U-Haul rent a truck and tow the escort behind it. My son has done that twice now with good success.

One very important piece of critical information: How many miles have you personally drive the Escort? Did you recently acquire the car and only driven it locally? My philosophy is that if you nave driven a car 100K miles and cannot detect any particular new problem, you can drive it 101K with confidence.

You will get two kinds of answers. One from people like me who have driven 20-year-old cars across the country a dozen times. Another from people who have a new car, but rent a car for a weekend drive because "what if".

If you're coming to Texas from Michigan in a car, any car, make sure the radiator/cooling system is in top shape. It gets hot here with temps of over 100F common during August and into September. It's bumping 100F almost everyday now with cool days in the mid 90's. For that same reason, either make sure the AC works great or pack a LOT of water. Riding in a car here in the hot temps with windows down is like sitting in a blast furnace. You'll be dehydrated quick. You'll need reasonably new tires. The heat has a tendency to cause marginal older tires to blow out. You could avoid most of this if you could put the trip off until December-thru March which is our fall, winter, and spring. The rest of the year is summer for the most part.

As far as I can tell, the car seems in good shape and should easily make it to Texas.

Disclaimer: I am not a mechanic, I just play one on the internet so my advice is not to be taken as factual.

This sounds like one of those questions during the Apollo age that one would see on a cover of a magazine.

You know, like, "Can we fly a paper airplane to the moon?".
