I am not a big fan of flying and usually go on road trips when I travel. That said, I was thinking of flying to someplace warm next month (FL or AZ). Between airfare, hotels, rental, and other misc expense, I'm looking at $1500-1600 or so. Is that expensive or does that sound about right?

March in Florida for a decent hotel South of Orlando on either coast will run you about $250 per night. Another $300 for airfare from just about anywhere plus spending money puts you in that budget.

Go somewhere that you will not need to rent a car to get rid of that expense. Smaller walkable Florida places, Hollywood Beach, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Hollywood Beach, Delray Beach, St. Pete Beach, Clearwater, etc.

I have no idea about Arizona.

I've never paid anywhere near that much for a hotel, usually no more than half that much. Maybe I'm cheap or just stay in lower cost places heh.

Not a bad idea as the car can be a big expense depending on location and time of year.
