Hi i am currently studying Travel and Tourism at college here in England and i am really enjoying it! However, i really want to become an exchange student and come and study in America for at least half a year. The thing is i want to keep learning about travel and tourism but what colleges i have researched already don't learn about travel industry. How do you become an air cabin crew member in America. And if i have my research wrong, and there are colleges i can study travel and tourism in, can you please tell me. Thank you. I would prefer going to California but really i don't mind.

Your college should be able to provide you with studies abroad information. I'm not sure how your schools work, but since we have many exchange students in the US from all over the world, it shouldn't be hard to find out how you can do it too.

Like ellie said, check with your school. You should also check with the British airlines about their flights, and access to overseas opportunities.

Usually the colleges and universities have their own programs. I'd check there first.

By "air cabin crew member" I'm assuming you are referring to the crew members that serve drinks/snacks and such? If so in the states we refer to them as flight attendants. There are no college courses for those positions. One simply needs to apply at the various airlines. Pay is low, VERY low and the hours can be really bad for the newbies. Your hours as a new flight attendant are not set and you have no regular route. You basically fill in where needed out of a home base. Some weeks you may be gone everyday and the next 1 or 2.

Another area to look into as far as studying in college is hotel management. There are several colleges/universities around that offer that program. There are also many websites that offer jobs abroad in every local. Cruise ships are one such and resorts in places like Mexico, ski destinations, Carribbean, etc.

Did I see in one of your earlier posts that you are not yet old enough to travel alone? What's up with that?
