Called for jury duty 11 times, on jury twice, both times I was chosen to be jury foreman. One was civil 1 was criminal, both were interesting.

Yes I have done jury duty and boy oh boy what a trip some people are when you are sequestered . They put you in some flea bag motel with less than clean facilities and you better not ask for an extra pillow because they will look at you like you have two heads instead of one . Taking a shower in a dirty bathroom is not something I relish to do ever again . The one lady I had to share the room with snored like a thunder storm . I was never so glad to get home in all my life .Would I do it again yes but not sequestered ever again .

Called maybe 4 times in my life. Never made it into the jury except once, for a murder trial. When asked my profession, I said "social worker" and that did it. Out the door.

I've been summoned for jury duty more times than I can keep track of, but have only been selected for a jury once (as Alternate Juror #1). We were called to that courtroom after lunch and jury selection took up the rest of the afternoon. We reported to the Jury Deliberation Room the next day, and sat there for 2 hours until the judge came in and told us that the defense had accepted a plea bargain agreement. He thanked us for our service and dismissed us. In Baltimore, jury duty is on a "one day or one trial" basis.

I think that the main reason I get bumped in criminal trials is that I answer "Yes" when asked about relatives working for a law enforcement agency. My mom worked for the FBI during WWII, and now that I'm married, I also add that my father-in-law was a captain on the Baltimore City Police. I don't think I'll ever be on a jury in a criminal trial in Baltimore.

For me, jury duty usually just means a day spent reading and having lunch downtown.

Yes, I've been called four times (in two separate states) and was chosen for a jury once. It was a drunk driving case that lasted three days. It was a very interesting experience and as Ralph says, educational.

I've been called once. I hated it. Lots of sitting in a basement room and waiting around. Lots of rules (no gum, walk in a single file line, no electronics).

I was dismissed from nearly every case because I'm a paramedic and apparently that's too close to a police officer.

It is possible they've changed it since then (this was 2008) but you were not allowed to have any electronic items in the waiting room, even ebook readers. I showed up on day one with a Kindle, prepared to wait it out and read and they took it away along with my cell phone. I brought several dead tree books the next day.

Several times. It mostly involved a lot of sitting around, and I got a lot of reading done. The longest was two weeks, the shortest was two days.

It only takes about two seconds, and I'm on my way home.

There's one that I saw that.. It gets you out of it, and honestly... i can't see any downside or way that you could be caught for it.

They always ask at the beginning.. Has anyone been convicted of a felony. Those that raise their hands.. Not even asked a question. Just "Thank you, get out, have a nice day"

I suppose if a judge wanted to run a background check or something.. Maybe you could get caught that way. When i was there and a guy stood up.. Immediate.. Gone. they didn't check, didn't ask follow up questions, nothing.
