I know the Weather Channel has gotten a bit hokey, but I still watch it pretty regularly. Except this morning, when I flipped channels for Local on the 8s, I discovered that FIOS has dropped TWC in favor of some sort of non-specific Accuweather Feed, with a message saying that people get their weather from the internet now, so sorry. As someone who has it on in the background while I'm getting ready in the morning, this is going to be an adjustment. A cable switching adjustment? I don't know yet.
DirectTv dropped it for a few months about a year ago over a pricing dispute. I was happy when they finally got it back. Hopefully, FIOS will work it out with them soon.
I think the weather channel is a waste. Most of the time they are not showing the weather but other shows. Our provider has another weather channel and its much better because its always broadcasting WEATHER.

Interestingly, part of the deal with Directv last year was that they (TWC) had to cut its reality programming in half and focus more on weather.

The companies aren’t disclosing financial terms, but DirecTV appears to have won some major concessions, including an apology. The Weather Channel (to appear on channel 362) will cut its reality programming by half on weekdays. It also will return instant local weather and authorize DirecTV subscribers to stream its video programming to multiple devices inside and outside the home.
I liked the Weather Channel when it was no commercials and weather, only weather, 24/7. There was always a map of the United States on the screen and at a glance you could see the temperature, etc. all over the U.S. No shows ABOUT weather, it was just all current weather.
I just realized we lost it yesterday. It's been replaced with a weatherbug channel that doesn't seem to be working well. It's giving me the weather for White Plains, NY. I live in Glen Burnie, MD! I don't care about the weather in a place a few hundred miles from my house!
These cable companies are like a bunch of little kids when it comes to deals with channels. First it was DirecTV with the weather channel, then FOX News on Dish, now this, along with countless others. Content providers are just too greedy these days: why can't TV be like the old days, when over the air was king and basic cable was a joke? Yeah, there were only a handful of channels, but unlike today's TV, they actually aired things worth watching.
