I just bought a new HDTV to replace an older analog 32" crt TV. One thing I did not do was give a second thought to 3D TV's when I was shopping.

I guess I'm not alone it not being interested in 3D tv.......

"3DTV marketing started seriously ramping up this year, with companies like Comcast, Cablevision and Verizon all trying to out hype one another via "first" 3DTV sports broadcasts. However, according to a new study by a firm named DisplaySearch, 3DTVs aren't selling very well at retail......"

I'm in the market for a new TV and I know I have no interest in 3-D.

Until 3-D becomes something more than a marketing gimmick requiring glasses I'll pass.

I remember when color tvs first came out. High cost and the only show in color was Bonanza. Before that they had this overlay thing to turn your tv into "color". Didn't work really well. So we shall see with the new 3D technology.

Who is actually going to pay upwards of $2500 for a tv that has a feature you pretty much can't use yet? Have they released any more 3D DVDs yet or is it still only the one?

I think it would be fun to have one as an extra TV for select movies/shows. I'm not sure I would always want to watch a TV that 'popped out' at you. It seems like it would just be sort of invasive and over-bearing if you had that stimulation all the time.

I recently shopped for a tv. I looked at one of these through the glasses, and sure I'd buy one if I had nothing else to buy and spend my money on. What brand of tv did you buy, TW?

I remember that too. My Dad bought the tv to watch sports on. I remember as a kid, how amazed we were by the whole experience. I think he bought an RCA 25 inch console, and it was about $1000 in 1969. That was the only time he bought anything that was a technological marvel. Oh, he does have a microwave but he is also in the market for a new tv.

Nostalgia rocks

My eyesight is not good enough for 3D, so I would never buy one.

As always it was a Sony for me. However, Samsung gave Sony a good run for the money.
