I wanted to watch a TV show online but they said you had to register and download a tool bar. Does anyone know if these things are safe? There is no paid subscription involved and they claim no spyware or anything nasty but I wonder. I am not a trusting soul by nature.

This particular one was TV Fanatic or something like that. But I have run into this before so at the lasts minute I chicken out and cancel the download. Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? Any opinions as to the safety of such websites? Or am I being paranoid?

Hi

I saw the site you checked out and then above it was a download for televisionfanatic.com

I searched info for it and sure enough it seems that the issue is with the toolbar which can cause the computer to lock up.

I have ran into these sites many a times....those sites can do bad things to your computer and lock it up.

Thank you! That's just what I needed to know. I don't know why but I couldn't find this information on my own. I guess I didn't search hard enough.
