It seems to me like most people can't really stand Donald Trump, but they really like the show. It's true of me and most people I talk to, anyway. Don't know why that show is so interesting, but it is.
fuzzy, I find it true of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE because I think most viewers like seeing the celebrities out of their element.
It apparently was not true of the regular APPRENTICE. I dont think people enjoyed watching regular Joes perform that much. From what I've read, viewership of that show was down so badly, after the first couple of seasons, that Trump came up with the idea of CELEBRITY APPRENTICE to increase the popularity of the show.
Here's a little tidbit I came across when looking up Donald Jr's and Eric's net worth:
For the first year of the show (The Apprentice), Trump was paid $50,000 per episode (roughly $700,000 for the first season), but following the show's initial success, he is now paid a reported $3 million per episode, making him one of the highest paid TV personalities.
In 2007, Trump received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to television (The Apprentice).

Well I guess I am in the minority because I enjoyed seeing the regular Joes.

As i recall, several people here posted that they enjoyed the regular Joes -- but, as a whole, youall were obviously in the minority. Viewership is up considerably since Trump started using celebrities.
For the 10th season, the show went back to its regular version, with non-celebrities, for the first time since the 2006–07 television schedule....Because of the poor ratings and lackluster reception of this season, Trump confirmed on the day of the final episode that the original format would be permanently discontinued after this season, and that all future seasons of the show would be in the Celebrity Apprentice format.

Unless they are constantly pretending (and I don't think they are) , the show gives good insight into how the contestants really behave, what they are like as human beings . Certainly we got to see the true Dionne Warwick last time.

I like how Trump keeps saying..."Will you look at the mouth on this one" when Aubrey starts going off on her tangents. Kind of reminds me of the movie "Deliverance".
Spoiler

Say what you will about Lou, I haven't been this entertained by a twitch since Chief Inspector Dreyfus!
