Any reality show that contains the word "Wars" in it is not watched by me. As another posted stated, I watch PBS now for educational purposes. I still love "Nova".

I haven't watched very many but NOVA seems to be a pretty good show.

NOVA is an awesome show. Speaking of PBS, if you ever get a chance to see the following, please do. I thought it was an excellent documentary series: Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State | PBS

All the channels have discovered that producing really dumb reality shows are cheap to produce. I'm waiting for 'the color bar test pattern' channel. Yet every year they want a rate increase from the cable/sat companies which are passed on to us.
I remember La Femme Nikita on USA -- that was probably the last of their big hits, and now it's not even re-aired on USA and hasn't been for around ten years.

EDIT: I forgot about Monk. Monk was terrific.

The History Channel is going the way of TLC...ridiculous 3 ring circus "reality shows." It was a good channel at one time, as TLC once was when it was actually "The Learning Channel." Even Animal Planet is now circling the drain and airing stupid ghost hunting shows that have nothing to do with animals.

I sure do remember! The LEARNING Channel was what TLC used to stand for. I used to think it was so great that, as you said, you could actually learn something.

Why? Why should people who are NOT dumbed down not be able to find anything informational (not commercials) on these channels? I'm not much into science but I sometimes watch Dr. Stephen Hawkings, the smartest scientist on earth, just to listen to something smart! Or "Through the Wormhole"!

That's why no "smart", meaning intelligent, tv series makes it either. Guess there's not enough of us left out in tv land.

If you're tired of the garbage being shown on history, you can always change the channel to A&E and watch people arguing about getting a parking ticket or having their car towed.
