Wow, this show looks like it is going to be great! It is on NBC starting this coming January. It is from the creators of Modern Family! Bill Pullman, Josh Gad and Jenna Elfman star in this.
I have my hesitations about it. If it's just a screwball comedy about the son who seems to be a klutz, I may not be interested. But I may at least check out the first episode to see. The commercials, though, don't honestly give me much hope for it.
You know what would be really funny? If Bill Pullman was the same president from Indepedence Day.
Part of the problem here is that Skip guy doesn't look very good at physical comedy. He's so clearly faking being clumsy and running into things. Guys like Chris Farly, Ashton Kutcher and Chevy Chase actually did it and the bit was funnier for it.
I dunno. Hope it's funny but if what they're showing on the ads are the "best" bits then I have a feeling this show will fold after half a season. It just doesn't seem like it would have enough potential to last a whole season.
Two things I've noticed over the past few years: 1) shows that are advertised a LOT often don't do well. It's a bad sign when they start trying too hard to build up an audience before it's even started its season. 2) shows about the first family that run right after an election don't tend to do well. Maybe people get burnt out on presidential tv shows? I remember how excited the networks were about the presidential series with Geena Davis, and it flopped right away.

I think you are right about this. Remember that show about the veternarian clinic that NBC kept pushinig? NBC sealed its demise when they aired it in the middle of the Olympics closing ceremonies. How long did that show last? Then, there was the American version of Prime Suspect that they kept promoting. I had seen the Helen Mirren series and just couldn't watch this version.

The all time champ was that dopey show about the Geico Cavemen character. They advertised that dud like crazy!
