For those who like 'reality' television, I suggest catching up on Mother Funders, on Bravo. I missed the first episode, but we have really enjoyed the second and third.

Briefly, it is about a group of women in Atlanta (or just outside) who are volunteers for the Parent Teacher Organization for their children's elementary school, responsible for raising money (in this case, for a computer lab). The leader of the PTO has a very, very high opinion of her status and power. Most of the other ladies are rather befuddled by the leader's high-handed actions, including putting people on 'probation' if they displease her (as one woman said, "Isn't this a volunteer organization to raise money for our children?").

I was not expecting much when I first tuned in, but by the end of the first episode I watched (again, the second) I was hooked (as was my wife when we then watched it together). If it is scripted, then it is well scripted. Atlanta does manage to serve up some rather crazy women.

The leader of the PTO is Carla, who reminds me very much of Quad from Married to Medicine. I like that the series shows that 1) she has a very high opinion of her status as the President of the PTO; but 2) she really does care for children and those less fortunate than her.

So far, I would rank this show up there with some of the other Bravo franchises, such as RHONYC and Orange county. We shall see if it has legs, however.

I've watched the season. I can't imagine that they only have 5/6 PTO members but I just looked the school up and their enrollment for PreK-5th is only 430 kids. It seems very scripted more than usual. I will keep watching to see how it goes.

Carla sure is a piece of work and I think she plays to the stereotype of a typical PTO. Robin amuses me and I sure hope her glass didn't have wine in it. She drove to Shavonne's and home though it doesn't seem like any of them live far from each other.

When Robin was at the PTO meeting held in the kindergarten classroom* (I think ep. 3) she had some type of opaque liquid container (like runners would have). The way she was rolling her head around and such made me think she was having an Adult Beverage. I also noted that when she visited one of the other ladies at their home she quickly found a bottle of white wine. She would fit in well with the Housewives of other shows.

*the venue was moved, for those interested, because Carla, the PTO president, thought that as long as the other members were acting like children, they might as well meet in a children's classroom. Carla is a wonderful piece of work.
