Anyone watch the repeats of these on the Hallmark Channel? I think they're pretty good and Bubba a good character actor, the hound dog, who played "Boomer." I think 2009 was the last one?

Loved them too, but I thought there were some past 2009 but time is flying and could be wrong.

We enjoy them a lot. Last I heard, they were still making them, but with Robert Parker's death, I'm not sure what the future holds for the movies.

The last one aired on CBS in May of 2012. There were actually three Stone movies after 2009.

Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (TV 2012) - IMDb

Tom Selleck wants to keep making more, but despite the good ratings CBS said this would be the last one because they appeal to an older demographic (over 54) and also they are moving away from doing made for TV movies.

I just can't get why people don't watch made for TV movies anymore. We don't all like the reality crap TV or stuff on that appeals to a 16 year old. Whatever. Rant over.

Lifetime is the network for made-for-TV movies.

Yup, but I meant why CBS, NBC, etc. isn't making more made for TV movies since some of the public still really likes them.

Because they're pretty expensive to make and don't have a lot of return on the investment.

But things are changing. The major networks are not of ignorant of how high quality dramas on cable are taking away their viewers. One of the networks (I can't remember which one) is currently working on a mini-series based on Stephen King's Under the Dome. If it's a success, maybe it will start a trend. If it's not, we'll probably get more stuff like Dancing with the Kardashian's Nanny.

I saw that advertised the other day. I want to say I saw a commercial for another mini-series as well that's coming. I really enjoyed the summer mini-series about an island up in Maine and a wedding. It was just the right length and had an ending.

I enjoy the Jessie Stone movies. Too bad they won't make anymore.
