Eggs in snow? Never heard of them! I wonder if the recipe told them how it should turn out? That the "snow" should still be liquid? I'd have thought I messed up if it was soupy snow. I also didn't realize pavlova should be marshmallowy in the center. I made a key lime one years ago and I crisped it up throughout the whole thing. The filling softened it somewhat again.

These contestants sure are good at presentation which is one thing I'm lacking. My stuff usually tastes delicious, but I'm not a decorator.

Sorry to see Jeremiah go.

Sorry to Jeremiah go, too. He's made some beautiful things. But I don't want to see anyone go at this point. I like them all

Just watched the GBBO Christmas masterclass on the BBC. Very enjoyable.

I think eggs in snow is a very European thing. My parents moved to the US a few years before I was born and I was brought up with that stuff. In my native language, the name translates to bird's milk. When it is done well, it is food of the gods. In fact, when growing up I wished I was sick more often because it was what my mom prepared as a pick-me-up. I've made my fair share of these, and it is all about technique.

I've never had Pavlova but I believe this is an Aussie dessert? Did you like it?

I watched this past week's episode, it's kind of fun when they do the challenge where they don't get the full directions. I remember when they did a version of cake last season where they had to pour and bake like 30 layers, one on top of the other, to get the desired result. Way too time consuming for my taste, but I've had that cake before and it is really light and delicious.

I've made both pavlova and oeufs a la neige/îles flottantes. I don't remember pavlova needing a "marshmallow center." I live in the US (in case you can't tell from the way I spell "center"). I love iles flottantes in particular, but I'm one of those people who think everything is better with crème anglaise.

Yeeeeah.
Did it make sense that he went?
He won the technical, after all.
Amanda fared the poorest that day...

Something fishy about the whole thing.

I had never heard of pavlova or eggs in snow. I Google'd pavlova and found so many different versions, I'm still not sure what it is, exactly! I'm not much of a baker at all, so I am truly impressed with what these guys can do. I'm also sorry Jeremiah left. I liked him. I really liked Prachi, too. I'm not fond of Amanda, so I'm guessing she'll win....

I've never made puff pastry but I keep seeing people saying how easy it is.

So what happened to Jennie's? Did she mess up and have to start over? I don't understand how it could have be SO underbaked.

You were right!

I thought Steph had a chance because they loved her flavors and one of Amanda's savory pastries was a little low on flavor. But apparently the custard that was slightly underbaked was enough to put Stephanie in 2nd place.
