In this episode, the second in Banacek's first season, Thomas Banacek (George Peppard) is hired to locate the whereabouts of Project Phoenix, a prototye for a fuel-efficient vehicle, before the insurers of the Phoenix prototype are obliged to pay a ransom for the prototype's return, or before Wexler, a competing investigator, finds the prototype. Towards that end, he visits Christine Verdon (Joanna Pettet), one of the members of the design team for the Phoenix prototype, and who's suspected of being an accessory to its hijacking, with Banacek reminding her during the interview that Wexler isn't as accommodating as he is when it comes to securing such information concerning the Phoenix's whereabouts. At the end of this episode, Banacek relates how the hijacking of the Phoenix happened: while en route to Los Angeles from Boston by rail, the Phoenix prototype was taken, with its flatcar, from the train of which it was a part, and placed on a switch track in an isolated area for safekeeping until the ransom was paid. I was impressed by the way Ms. Pettet handled herself in the role of Christine Verdon, especially the spunky way in which she dealt with Banacek during the interview sequence. It's just a thought that I wished to express. Comments, anyone? Martin1973 February 2, 2009
