I watched The Unit until CBS canceled it and I watch Lost which has huge spans of time between seasons. Otherwise, nothing else on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox. Right now, I watch nothing on those networks. In fact, if my cable company made them optional, I wouldn't take them. I can always watch Lost online. I subscribe to 2 local newspapers, listen to the radio and read local news online so I don't need the local TV news.

If I could only have 5 channels and one premium one, I'd pick:

Cable

Fox News (Beck, Baier, Smith, O'Reilly)
USA (movies, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU, In Plain Sight, Burn Notice, Monk, Psych)
The Comedy Channel (South Park and Stand-Up)
Bravo (Top Chef, movies and Law & Order: Criminal Intent Sundays)
TNT (Law & Order, movies)

Premium

Encore (movies)

You may be watching the networks' programs without knowing it I recently read a news item about an NBC network executive stepping down after poor performance. The article discussed however, shows that had been successful on their USA and Bravo channels which they own.

We watch ABC every morning before work. Otherwise, we never watch the channels mentioned - ever! (We do watch the Oscars)

We usually watch A&E, NatGeo, the Style channel, TLC, HGTV, the Food Channel, HBO, the BBC channel, Sci Fi Channel, sometimes Bravo, the Comedy Channel and PBS.

Question Are They Still The Big Four?

That's pretty incredible that even I don't watch a lot of network TV except for, maybe, the nightly news. It's probably been two or three years since I've watched anything faithfully on any of the Big Four. I've pretty much committed to doing other things, and there are cable choices out there. I haven't completely abandoned the networks in hopes that something might catch my fancy, as they still have some relevance due to history and tradition. But, in skimming through the remote, I can't sit on any network show for more than ten minutes. I have watched a little American Idol this past season, but other than that, that's been it.

Despite great technological advances, it is unbelievable how times ---- and tastes ----- change.

Can't say I watch any shows anymore with the exception of "Lie to me" when I remember if they have not moved it to another day, why they change the days they are on just loses viewers, the last ones I liked were Boston Legal, Shark, Third Watch, Crossing Jordan and Judging Amy of course they are cancelled for some reason, they can have their reality shows, how many of these do we need, I don't know why they don't just air some movies anymore, there were alot of Hallmark Hall of Fame movies from years ago that are never shown, the Hallmark Channel does not even air these movies.

All the premium channels HBO etc just constantly show repeats, with Cable and DTV its all the same bull, majority of channels are for shopping, or infomercials on buying things. Shame its this way.

I've found two shows I enjoy, and two or three shows I didn't get into--on network TV. Of course, the 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot is when I'm at work and have to DVR stuff I want to watch (and nothing worth watching is on during the day...talk shows, game shows, court shows, and soaps--right?).

I watch both "Mental" and "The Mentalist". Tried "The Listener" and "The Philanthropist"...and couldn't get into either one. There's been a few others...um, "Dollhouse" I watched, "Flashpoint" I didn't care for.

That may be true but USA, Bravo and TNT, for example, fit my viewing schedule better. Because I don't watch the lower channels, I'm unaware of their new shows, too.

Once the network shows end for the Summer 99% of my viewing is done elsewhere. Once the new Fall seasons begins I expect there'll be a few I will watch (Ugly Betty, CSI, Supernatural) but there are so few really good shows on those channels any more. I don't even watch Lost any more - I got so fed up with it last season.

USA, TBS, even Sci-Fi (or whatever it's calling itself now), are really taking over.

It seems the "networks" still cling to their old model when they were the only game in town. They show their new programs just once, unlike USA, TNT, History, etc that show their new programs several times during the week, at different times of day. I wish the networks would begin this practice. Indeed, much of what they show isn't worth watching. For example, I missed The Mentalist on CBS this week and would love to catch it on one of the 3-4 nights when there's nothing on.

Yeah I tried to watch Lost and Ugly Betty!

Sad how in the old days EVERYONE watched Ed Sullivan or Carol Burnett and was talking about it the next day...
