I quoted below from one website that states that Massachuetts' Eb program cuts off on June 26, 2010 no matter what. However, on the Massachusetts Unemployment website, it says that "Unless congress votes, June 26 is the last date for EB"

Can someone help me and try to understand what this means?

First I posted the states EB rules, then I posted lit. from the Mass DOL.

quote - No EB is Available for the following states:
AR, FL, HI, IA, LA, MD, MS, NE, ND, OK, SD, UT, VI and WY
The following states have a permanent EB trigger, individuals may collect EB even if Congress does not reauthorize full federal funding of the EB program:

AK, CT, KS, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NC, OR, RI, VT and WA
The following states do not have a permanent EB trigger but qualify for EB since the IUR threshold is met:

CA, ID, NV, PA and WI
EB ends on 6-5-10 in the following states, there will be no phase out period:

AL, CO. DE, IN, KY, MO, OH, SC, TN, TX and WV
EB ends on 6-12-10 in the following states, there will be no phase out period:

AZ, DC, GA, IL, ME and VA
EB ends on 6-26-10 in MA, there will be no phase out period.

FROM MASS DOL

June 22, 2010 Update

Proposed legislation to extend the filing deadline is still pending in the U.S. Senate. Without Congressional action, Massachusetts will be "triggering off" the Federal-State Extended Benefits (EB) program on June 26, 2010. This means that the regular Unemployment Insurance claims period will revert back to a period of up to 30 weeks. If you are currently claiming EB benefits, please be advised that the last payable week is June 26, 2010 regardless of any remaining credit.
The federal government has notified Massachusetts that it has met the criteria for a Federal-State Extended Benefits (EB) program effective March 22, 2009. State Extended Benefits are additional unemployment insurance benefits provided during periods of high unemployment in the Commonwealth.

Overview

Under the EB program, eligible claimants may receive up to 20 additional weeks of unemployment benefits after they exhaust their regular unemployment benefits and federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC08). The 20 weeks EB are in addition to the 26 weeks of regular benefits and the 53 weeks of federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC08) currently available to eligible claimants. This will increase the maximum benefits up to 99 weeks for many eligible claimants.
As part of the stimulus bill, the federal government will pay 100 percent of the Federal-State Extended Benefits for 2009, relieving Massachusetts employers of the additional burden on unemployment tax contributions. However, governmental employers will be liable for 100% of the EB charges.

It means they won't offer EB anymore unless it's 100% federally funded (ie - HR4213 has to pass)

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! What do you mean by one more check and I'll see you by the river? Are you telling me that this week is the last week of checks I'm gonna get?

Why would this state do such a terrible thing like that? I just went onto my online account for the Mass. unemployment website and this is what it says (posted below because its so big). I am on Tier 3 and last week when I went down to the unemployment office, the lady said i had about $1300.00 left in benefits. So I wonder why my account now says 0? Who gave them the rights to take my money away. I am in Tier #3 and I calculated it to at least last until the middle of July.

I still don't understand this EB thing. Please let me know what letter is correct?

A: The last date to file for EB is the week before June 26, 2010 (in which case you will be awarded one week of EB). EB payments expire on June 26. Anyone collecting money from EB will no longer get a check after June 26.

B: If HR 4213 passes, EB will restart in Massachusetts

C: If HR 4213 passes it will not effect EB in Massachusetts and Massachusetts still will not have EB.

D. Both A and B are right

Can someone explain to me if the other states that have expired EB like AL and CO will then restart there EB? I don't get it. Thanks

The answer is B - It sounds as though you came to the end of Tier 3 (the approx 1300 balance would have been 6 weeks of Tier 4)

This from the MA dol site

my account balance shows thousands, but that is for the full 20 weeks of EB.
If you are on EB, or have a Tier that expired last week, you get one more check unless an extension passes.

I'll be on the Merrimack or Charles. See you there, maybe.

Yeah, I was surprised when I went on the EUC tiers that my state (WA) credited my account with the balance of all 4 tiers (even though you have to know it being available is reliant on the extensions being available).

Just makes it easier for them administratively I gather, but makes it confusing for some claimants too.

Thank you. I get $266.00 per week. Last week I was told that I had $1330.00 left in my account. I now must have $1064.00 which brings me to 4 more weeks left. I think that the website is showing $0.00 in error, maybe they are behind.

4 weeks is nothing. These days seem to be flying by. I will have checks until mid july unless they pass this bill.

Sorry to dwell: But.....Does passing of hr 4213 mean that ALL extension dates, which include Tiers 1 2 3 4 and EB are extended until Nov. 30? Thanks for all of your help.

If it passes as is, yes it will extend all tier cutoff dates to Nov 2010
