A reduction of weeks. I'm on week #112....if I go to the end of the year it will be about 118. I COULD go to #126 as I'm still on tier 3....but it MAY end at #118. It's been a great run after Panduit Tinley Park, Il. closing and moving ALL machines to Costa Rica. I was there 43 years.
So, why are you worried about being "screwed"? What do you care? You are living the high life and declaring that nothing could have been better for you than unemployment.
And I couldn't care less about your "feel sorry for me story" You are intentionally on the week of UI that you are. And in fact have bragged about it. UI benefits are for assisting of those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own and need assistance until they are able to find another job.
I have not squandered the money. After 43 years I feel I DESERVE it. It wasn't my fault the plant moved away. I like being a part of Romeny's 47%. The VA is helping me continue it AFTER UI through "free" health care.
A new tv....couple trips....maybe a new car soon. I never thought I would become a part of the 47% and love it as much as I do.
I'll be gone from here soon....maybe week #118...maybe week #126....we'll see. Then it's SS and $165,000 the plant put away for me through profit sharing.
I'm getting worried. I've never been on UI before and it has helped out a lot. I'll just cross my fingers until I find a job
i'm in the same situation. I have been to so many interviews in my field for the last 2 months with nothing working for me. I lack only one thing they all want and it's the current state certification for patient assistance regardless of the years I've provided it through home care. I'm so old school I know how to operate every manual device out there plus the electronic lazy mans gadgets. You'd think my skills and years of work would outweigh a piece of paper but it just doesn't. There is a certification offered through our local one stop but it goes right over my 26 weeks by one month. If we get an extension I'd be covered for the entire class although it's still chugging away at the poverty level I'm more than willing to ramen noodle my way to get that cert and bust those doors down to finally get the job. Both local hospitals have told me they'd hire me as soon as I show up with the cert. I think this is where my years of on hands care and the piles of references in regard to my level of care pays off and I'll get to pass over geriatrics and lower pay. The pay is pretty darn good with acute care compared to what i was making in home care. Just praying to God they give us newer claimants maybe even a tier 1 for 12 weeks. Thats all I'd need. So please Santa give us newbies just one extension.
I worked from December 4, 1967 till September 8, 2010. I FEEL I deserve all I can get! Since I also get SS...they reduce my weekly payments in half. Thats why the #112 weeks so far.

Weird logic..........
43 years in manufacturing, older worker, probably limited skills outside the line. Not a lot of opportunity for you but why not take everything you can get and move to Costa Rica and get your old job back?
Not sure 165K in retirement benefits and SS are going to be your ticket to Mitt Romney riches though.
