Any advice on how to go about getting a mortgage and buying a home in the UK? It's an old family home that we'd like to keep in the family; perhaps as a vacation home just for our family members or perhaps as a holiday let. We're not finding any options for a mortgage or services to help us.

I don't believe any UK bank or building society will advance a mortgage loan to anyone who is not a legal permanent UK resident. You may have no option but to buy for cash - if you can. Maybe you will have more luck with a US bank.
