Lets say that you have to show some non locals round your patch over the period of a few days.

What are the places that you would take them to?

Are there any well known attractions? Perhaps there are some hidden gems you know about.

Let's find out.

No- just tell us what's interesting in your area.

I set this thread up around 4-30 am when I got up and I wasn't thinking straight as I did something like this before.

However we have new posters so maybe we'll get some response.

As far as things go round here the new Stonehenge visitor centre will be opening in December meaning that the area immediately around the stones, like the old centre and car park will be returned to grass.

The road running along side the stones has already gone and eventually things should be much better.

My city Glasgow is covered with all these murals just now for the Commonwealth Games, so Id start here...taking my guest round the city centre and other districts with these wonderful paintings. then our revamped old cinema the Olympia in the eastend now beautful library, boxing gym, offices and cafe..just along the road is the Glasgow Green that cant be missed. with the old Templetons carpet factory here in this photo designed on the Doges Palace in Venice....and with the biggest teracotta fountain in Europe. the Doulton Fountain in the Green. Then we can jump on a bus and go to the Glasgow Art Galleries near Partick where a tiny Quakers graveyard donated by a Mr Purdon sits undisturbed for over 300 years, a gift from the Quaker Purdon to Partick with streets, roads as a gift in the hope the graveyard would be tended forever as his wife is buried there...

old cinema now revamped from this

I'd take them to see the great architecture of Manchester; the town hall, cathedral, corn exchange etc. and then we'd chug along to the Manchester Museum, which I think is great. A trip to the Peak District would definitely not go amiss. There is some beautiful, much under-appreciated scenery there.
