Do you think Yorkshire in terms of culture and dialect shares more in common with Durham, Newcastle and Northumberland or with Lancashire, Liverpool and Cumbria generally speaking? I've noticed it's considered neither northwestern or northeastern but rather a part of the North unto its own.

Well part of Yorkshire IS Northeast England. Plus the latter places are north of Yorkshire. I would say more similarities to Lancashire sans Merseyside, but maybe the East Riding is like the far Northeast? Dunno

Parts of North Yorkshire is more similar to the North East indeed Middlesbrough was traditionally part of the North Riding, West Yorkshire has far more in common with the North West than North East England, whilst South Yorkshire has more in common with the East Midlands. Finally Humberside (East Yorks) has more in common with Lincolnshire and the East of England.

Yorkshire is not like NE England or NW England - it is much better than either. Deal with it.
