Me and my boyfriend want to relocate to a new city in the UK. He is adamant on Exeter and I need proof that that is the city to be.
I haven't found so many pros on Exeter and I am not convinced that is where I want to permanently move, FOREVER.
I want sunny and less wind, I don't care if it's humid or rains a lot as long as I have more sunshine than cloudy weather, and I think the most important factor is less wind in terms of weather.
I work in the aviation industry and I really want to find a place where I get paid similar in this industry. Currently I live in the North (Leeds) and my salary is above £25 000 so moving to Exeter restricts my options (or maybe I am wrong).
I still want the scenery and outdoors of the Yorkshire Dales but also an interesting city that offers decent coffee shops.
Is anyone from Exeter or that knows Exeter that wants to offer an educated opinion with pros and cons? Or maybe suggest a different city.
Please help!

Summers are warmer in the South East, winters more mild in the South West, sunniest places are along the South Coast which can be really quite 'sunny' in the Summer months, unfortunately its the Winter months that lack sunshine anywhere in the UK (because at 50+ degrees north during the winter the sun hardly rises above the horizon!)

Indeed.
Kent is one of the driest places in England and the West Country gets very wet in the winter.
But the OP also mentioned quality of life.
Exeter is a rapidly-expanding city that also retains a town-like charm. There are excellent shops, some good pubs and restaurants and superb transport links.
It's a great part of the country.

It is for me Cornwall is stunningly beautiful, the coast there is wonderful but of course there are not the same opportunities as other parts of the country, Exeter is in Devon I believe (another beautiful part of the country next door to Cornwall) and as a town it could hold more opportunities?

Cornwall is dire in the winter. What makes it so great in summer(if you can bear the number of tourists ) counts against it in winter.
I have a chum trying to sell a very expensive holiday home there after he spent this winter, his first, living down there.
The isolation nearly drove him bonkers.
Devon is closer to civilisation and easier to get to and from.
Cheltenham is awfully nice. If you want smaller, Tewksbury is really close to Cheltenham for the shopping, restaurants, and events.
