I watch Brit movies and tv shows and its always show them quickly pulling out a phone to take a picture of anything. Few Examples: Kidulthood, The Inbetweeners and Misfits.

This is not custom in the U.S.

Yeah it's quite common in some social groups, take a picture/video of something and then send it to your friends. It's not nearly as malicious a practice as is sometimes implied and the vast majority of the time it's done for a laugh, although there have been times when people have filmed others attacking each other and things like that. Although they often shoot themselves in the foot somewhat because there have been several cases where the offender's own footage has been used against them in court and they end up being sentenced on evidence they recorded!

I thought the same thing when I saw the title of the thread but being a sunday morning and i'm bored, I decided to click on it. I'm not sure of the meaning behind the question, Americans do it all time. Probably more so. You must not be on Facebook...

It apparently isn't custom among those you associate yourself with. I can't agree with you. I use my camera phone almost daily as do many I know in varying regions of the US. Facebook is rife with camera phone pics.
